SmileCentric is not in Indianapolis. We are in Carmel, just north of the I-465 ring, and a meaningful portion of our cosmetic patients live or work in Indianapolis and drive up for treatment. If you live on the north side of the city, in Broad Ripple, Meridian-Kessler, Williams Creek, or anywhere along the US-31 or Meridian Street corridor, our office is closer than most cosmetic practices in downtown Indianapolis.

Why North Indianapolis Residents Drive to Carmel for Cosmetic Care

North-side Indianapolis residents have plenty of cosmetic dental options closer to downtown. The patients who choose us tend to do so for a specific set of reasons: they want a provider who plans the case in detail before doing the work, they want clear pricing without back-and-forth on insurance, and they prefer a smaller suburban office where they see the same dentist at every visit instead of being rotated through associates.

What we offer is conservative cosmetic dentistry. That means we treat as little tooth as the result allows. For a patient with veneer-stage front teeth, that often means starting with whitening, then evaluating bonding before recommending veneers. The starting point is your tooth, not a sales menu.

Meet Dr. Louis Abukhalaf, Kois Center-Trained Cosmetic Dentist

Dr. Louis Abukhalaf is the cosmetic dentist at SmileCentric. He earned his undergraduate degree in chemistry and biochemistry from Loyola University Chicago, graduating summa cum laude, and graduated magna cum laude from Marquette University School of Dentistry. He completed post-graduate training at the Kois Center in Seattle, the program most widely associated with advanced restorative and aesthetic dentistry in the United States, and continues with ongoing training between cases.

For an Indianapolis patient evaluating cosmetic dentists, the Kois background is the credential that matters. Cosmetic dentistry is taught only briefly in dental school, and the practitioners who specialize in it pursue post-graduate training afterward. The Kois Center is one of a handful of programs widely recognized inside the profession for that work.

"I see a lot of patients from Indianapolis who have already had cosmetic work done elsewhere and want it redone. The most common reason is that the planning was rushed. We try to make the planning the longest part of the appointment."

Our Cosmetic Dentistry Services

Every cosmetic service is offered in our Carmel office under one roof. Brief summaries below; each service has a dedicated page if you want a deeper look.

Teeth Whitening

Professional in-office whitening produces a noticeable change in a single visit. Take-home trays with custom-fit gels deliver a more gradual result and let you control the depth of shade. Both are stronger and safer than over-the-counter alternatives.

Porcelain Veneers

Custom porcelain shells bonded to the front of the teeth to correct color, shape, alignment, and small gaps. Indianapolis patients often ask about minimal-prep options, and we use them when the case allows. Every veneer case begins with a digital smile preview before any tooth is prepared.

Cosmetic Bonding

Composite resin sculpted directly on the tooth, usually in one visit. Bonding is the right answer for chips, small gaps, and uneven edges, and it is reversible if your situation changes.

Dental Crowns and Bridges

Modern ceramic crowns rebuild teeth that are cracked, worn, or weakened. Bridges replace one or more missing teeth without the surgical step of an implant. Both match the surrounding teeth.

Smile Makeovers

A coordinated multi-treatment plan that combines whitening, bonding, veneers, crowns, and (when needed) implants into one sequence. Useful for patients who want a full smile change rather than a single tooth fix.

Invisalign Clear Aligners

Clear, removable trays that move teeth into position without metal brackets. Many cosmetic patients add Invisalign before whitening or veneers, since aligned teeth produce better cosmetic results with less tooth reduction.

What to Expect at Your Cosmetic Consultation

A first cosmetic visit takes about an hour. We start with a discussion of what you want to change. We take digital photos, intraoral scans, and X-rays, and for complex cases we add a 3D cone beam scan. You leave with a written plan, a smile preview when relevant, a clear price, and a timeline.

Insurance, Financing, and New Patient Specials

SmileCentric is in-network with major PPO insurance plans and files claims for you. Cosmetic dentistry is generally not covered by insurance, and we are clear about that during planning. The Membership Discount Plan is our alternative for patients without insurance and includes preventive coverage plus a meaningful discount on cosmetic work. Monthly financing is available through our partner lenders.

New patient specials: $59 complete exam with X-rays, $49 healthy mouth cleaning, and a free dental implant consultation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why would I drive from Indianapolis to Carmel for cosmetic dentistry?

Most Indianapolis patients who drive up to us are looking for a smaller office where the same dentist plans and performs the work, and where the case planning is done in detail before any tooth is prepared. If those things are easy to find inside the I-465 loop, our drive is not necessary. If they are not, the 25 minute commute is the trade.

Do you offer parking?

Yes. The office has free dedicated parking on River Road. There is no garage fee or street meter to deal with, which patients coming up from downtown often comment on.

Can I do a cosmetic consultation over my lunch hour?

A first consultation runs about an hour. With the round-trip drive from downtown Indianapolis, plan on around two hours total. We can sometimes accommodate a 7:30 or 8:00 a.m. start before work; ask when you book.

Can you handle full smile makeovers?

Yes. Smile makeovers are a a regular part of what we do. They are sequenced over multiple visits because the planning, preview, and seating each need their own appointment. We coordinate the visits to minimize the number of trips for patients commuting up from Indianapolis.
